Pink Lemon

Passion project

Pink Lemon was a creative collective. We collaborated with artists, designers, musicians, writers, and chefs; collating their work in exhibitions across Melbourne. Alongside my business partner, I developed our brand identity and produced the press, photoshoots and advertising for all three of our gallery openings.

Here’s me, setting up our second pop-up gallery in Abbotsford, Melbourne.

‘AMALGAM’

‘Amalgam’ was Pink Lemon’s third and final gallery project combining the work of 23 creatives from different practises and backgrounds into one unified storytelling experience.

The work of artists, musicians and writers were blended into one show that featured, a collection of short stories, an album, a 12m mural, an art exhibit, accompanying performances and food specially crafted for the entire experience. Every single piece in the project was yet another element that built the world of ‘Amalgam’.

The Amalgam project began in earnest in late 2017.

We wanted artists working across many different creative disciplines to unite.

In previous projects, we curated fashion and art together that had visual and thematic overlaps.

This time, we wanted to produce new work that would cross over many disciplines and mediums. Simply put, we wanted to generate a show where art, literature and music all worked together as one.

The Amalgam Album

Robert Downie, Imogen Cygler, Finnian Langham and Hannah McKittrick are four local musicians all working within their own respectively diverse genres and scenes.

Ranging from moody modular synthesis to the singer-songwriter tradition, this nine track album contains work which spoke to the literature and visual art of the Amalgam project from day dot.

Collated here are their songs; traversing parched landscapes, downed train lines and the absurd encounters between characters of the Amalgam world.

Released October 26, 2018

A Collection of Short Stories

Every picture tells a story. When writers collaborate with visual artists we see intricate narratives emerge. We see small black and white drawings become intense personal explorations of identity. We see a photograph of a flower transform into a person, the brushstrokes of a painting embodied by the roaring shouts of a crowd.

As the writers and artists of Amalgam tackle real-world issues at large, we see words give power to pictures and pictures give power to words.
